Famailia, So this week was good.  Caught a cold, drank goat milk and had 38 people in church ha.  Oh 3 things bad.  So now I have to write 9 things good.  1.  Elder Santana is really cool.  I'm really liking traning!  2.  I got to do an interview for baptism and that's one of my new favorite things.  It's great to hear the conversion stories!.  3.  Were working super hard, hardest I've worked or maybe just feels that way.  4.  We get to plan a wedding!  (probably already happened before you read this)  5.  I tried to send presents to you all but it was too expensive for a little box so I'll send a bigger box and it's less expensive ha don't know how but here at transferes I'll send a box of memories.  So nothing new really happened.  We started doing alot more contacts and talking w/everybody literally and I've really seen the blessings not alot yet because were still being tried, but it's good!  The busier & runned ragged I am the happier I seem to be.  But were working and marking dates and activities and all is great.
Mensagem Espitiual!  Mosias 15: 2-3  I wann a know what you think about these verses what do you understand?

Family, I don't have much time today but I promised I would write every week so!  I'm doing great.  Super busy w/all the new responsibilities but it's great!  I get to do interviews for all of my district!  Its cool talking w/the people about to be baptised.  I had this young lady of 17 years and I had already taught her 1 time before so I knew her story well and the interview went well and I asked who would you like to baptise you?  She said who can?  I said anyone in the ward with authority.  She said the missionaries or could you.  I said for me its alot harder I have to ask permission from Pres.  She said well ask cuz I want you to ha.  But after she felt a better idea to have her boyfriend do it!  But still felt good to know I helped in her conversion story!  Also we ate tato (armadillo) it was good.  Tasted alot like alligator or turtle, ya know the usual ha!  But this last week was ran ragged but were getting it all done ha.  I'm really starting to love it more and more.  With more stress I feel....happier? more self productive who knows what exactly it is but I'm really starting to love it.  Hope all is well.  Love you all!  Oh Happy moms Day! (Tami Martha Deakin)haha

Family!  So today my letter will be really short because I cut my middle finger holding a fan (plastic) for our bar b que, but I am fine.  It's going to stop bleeding I hope haha.  But I am great.  This area is starting to get better.  The members are starting to get alot friendlier!  Also I have said it before but thank you for the valentines box w/treats/valentines.  Alot made me laugh!  But like I said pretty short because it really is hard to write w/o my middle finger ha.  Oh you guys should watch a test of five its a baptist film about firefighter.  Everyone said its good!  Let me know how it is!  I hope all is well!  Tchau!  Elder Deakin

Dear Family Deakin, We would like to inform you that because of his good example and success your son, Elder Britten Campbell Deakin is currently serving as a Senior Companion.  The senior companion is the missionary in charge of the companionship; he dictates the pace of the work of the Lord for his companion, helping the mission as a whole.  In our mission this is a very important position that reflects the confidence that the Mission President deposits in the missionary and more importantly still, it symbolizes the confidence that the Lord has in your son.  We know that support from home is essential to his success.  We hope that you continue to support him throughout his entire mission and in the future callings he will hold.  We greatly trust in your son!  We took the liberty of sending other copies of this letter to your son's Bishop and Stake President so that that they can follow his progress and his labor in the field.  We pray that the Lord will continue to bless you in your sacred calling as parents.
Sincerely,    H. Moroni Klein, Mission President

Grandpa & Grandma Deakin  Thanks again for the letters and the cartoon clippings.  I don't have any other missionary in my house that speaks english and they aren't as funny translated, but I sure do enjoy them.  I heard you guys are getting alot of snow this week!  That's good you'll will need the water here in 2 months.  So you probably heard but I got transfered to an area called Sao Francisco, it's inside the state of Acre.  So I had to take a 3 hour plane to get here ha so I'm a little off the beaten path...but I love it here.  Best top 3 things:  1.  They have CJ5!  Jeeps for real!  Way Cool!  2.  The members/investigators give us food w/each lesson we have so I'm not passing hungry. 3.  My comp/the house we live in is by far the best so far.  Really clean, easy to clean, almost a real house!  The other houses weren't very good ha.  The Councelor in the Stake Pres. has a fish farm so he invited us to go fishing so when we go I'll show you how to catch a big fish!  But I hope everything is good there and hope to hear from ya soon!  Tchau Elder Deakin  Oh also I have some music from pioneers and in there is names of some people.  One was Ann Deakin Mill I was wondering if you know her story.

The Griswalds! Oh Deakins!  Hey how is it going?  This week was good.  We finally got a wedding taken care of just not the baptism yet but she's good so I'm not too worried.  So I got the package w/the photos and clip from Holly.  I sent her a thank you.  Also got a card w/ideas about what to write haha!  Cambrias starting golf.  That's cool just remember swing relaxed.  Girls always try too hard, just relax.  Holly said Annalisa won the photo contest for Grolls that's cool.  Oh also got a really cool Christmas card w/dancing lights!  Way Cool!!!  So hows the presidency?  Everybody tells me Mitt is winning but nobody here knows about government, so I don't trust them ha. But also I wont/didn't send the memory card today because Elder Helama wants to copy some of them.  Also Da Cunha called me saying he got the package and he will write to ya.  He said thank you alot.  But I think that's it for today!  Have a great week.  I love you all!  Tchau!  Elder Deakin

(Letter from President Klein)
Dear Deakin Family,
We would like to inform you that because of his good example and success your son, Elder Britten Campbell Deakin, is currently serving as a District Leader and Trainer.  A district leader is in charge of a certain number of companionships, he is responsible for them, he trains them in aspects of proselyting and finally, he is a representative of the Mission President and the Lord for that group of missionaries; a trainer receives a newly arrived issionary and has the task of training him in all aspects of missionary work.
Here in our mission, only the will of the Lord, faithfulness to the mission rules and the commandments, hard work, and success lead a missionary to this position.  This is a very important position that greatly reflects the confidence that the Mission President deposits in the missionary and more importantly, it symbolizes the confidence that the Lord has in your son.
As you can seen, your child has grown in the service of the Lord.  Thank you for the continuous training that you have given him throughout his life.  I know that you, as parents, are really responsible for the success that he is having here in the mission field!  Again we ask that you continue to support your child throughout the rest of his mission.  We trust in him completely and in his ability to serve!
We took the liberty of sending other copies of this letter to your son's Bishop and Stake President so that they can follow his proress and his labor in the field.  I know that the time invested in preparing and training your child for the mission field is having wonderful results.
We pray that the Lord will continue to bless you in your sacred calling as parents.
Sincerely,  H. Moroni Klein, Mission President

April 4, 2012
Family!  So I'm going to write happily and try to get this in the mail with the last weeks before next week but I'm not so sure if it will happen.  I tried/wrote a letter last week but correios was full and really slow!  So it didn't work, but I wrote!  And just to prove it I'll still send all three (already sealed them  So you will get 3 letters together when you get this one,  But just to explain quickly?  What happened this last week last Tuesday we had District meeting but after the meeting got out the Zone Leaders showed up with the Assistant and he called me to talk to him.  So we went and said that the old DL was taken over and I'll be the next.  This was one week before transfers so I'm not sure what happened.   But then we went to the "Rodizio Grill" called Gauche! But there we ate some really good food!  Like Aligator, Ostrich, Warthog!  It was all really great food!  Oh yeah we also had Conference with President Klein.  He looked at our area books.  Ours is doing good just a few problems but also he gave us a talk.  Some things I liked was "being tempted isn't a sin, Jesus was tempted.  Sin is when you give in."  Also "the gospel of Jesus Christ isn't the gospel of Jesus Christ, but the name God gave to "His" doctrine so really it's the doctrine or gospel of God but God gave it the name of the gospel of Jesus Christ because he was the role model!"  Then he talked alot about being a model.  Another thing was a quote "he said" if nobody gets to heaven without Christ nobody gets there without me because we are representatives of Christ."  and the best thing was "Baptism is a remission of sin in the past. Baptism by fire is a remission of sin in the future."     But then our baptism fell through because her uncle died so were working/waiting for her to come back to town.  But then we had General Conference and transfers.  Transfers are more easier to explain so I'm continuing the same area for 3 months but I will be trainer and district leader, train a new Elder from Chili E. Santana, my filho!  Grandson of DaCunha ha.  He's way cool.  His accent is funny ha, but I'm learning Espanol!  I can already read and understand but speaking is the next step ha, but things I liked from Conference was English so we got to hear their voices ha.  But I will write another page.  I Love You all!  Tchau!     The Atonement didn't end.   Sacrifices still need to be made with time, money those things.  " a religion that doesn't require sacrifices of all things will never have power sufficient to have the saving power of man."  Pres. Eyring: "Send me a mountain"  The formula of faith is hold on!  The thing God loves most is being merciful especially to the one that didn't expect it.  Soaris: "You can't be right by doing wrong, but cant be wrong doing right.  What we do speaks so loudly that others might not hear what we do.  Uchdorft: Heaven is fill with forgiven people.  Every bad thing that is happening can be stopped by stoppkng everything that is causing it.        What does Christ think of me?
March 26, 2012
Familia!  So this week went by super fast just like all of them in the past!  I cant believe how fast the time is going!  But everything is great here as you can see my finger is better because my handwriting is better ha.  But this week few things happened.  Start off w/the parts most exciting.  First off mom don't read this but we almost DIED!  J/K but for real so we were in a lesson that we did a contact and were there with alot of families, 4 different families, but only the wives.  But when the 1st husband got home he had a bottle almost empty of whiskey.  He didn't say hi.  She said thats normal, your fine so we continued.  Then he came back and called her into the kitchen while we were sitting there we heard I told you I don't want anybody in my house!  Get them out or I'll kill them!  I Kill!  I'll kill them!  Needless to say we didn't wait to have her return we ran! haha but we won't return there until we know its safe!  But then about our baptism, she fell through! :(  Because she lies!  I'm still so bitter so we will wait a few months to go back!  But that's really about it for this week ha.  I didn't have anything exciting happen, other than what I already told ha.  But spiritual message/story  Sunday morning I found out that I had to give a talk.  Our church starts 3:00 p.m. but I talked on testimony.  So you all know how I love stories so there once was a man that on a dark cloudy night took his car for a drive, but in the middle of no where the car turned off.  After a long time he was able to start it again.  The lights burned out so he was in the middle of no where in a car w/o lights on a super dark night when he saw another car coming, so he started using this car as a guide following every move dodging holes and curving with the road!  But all of a sudden the first car stopped and the car without lights ran into him.  He left the car mad!  Hey why did you stop, you knew I was following you.  The man from the first car said...yeah but you entered into my garage!  So you guys try to relate that to testimony!  Love you all!  Tchau!  Elder Deakin

Sorry this will be super fast and probably really short but I promised a letter every week!  But I'm doing really well.  This last week was running crazy!  But we had little success with people coming to church, but this week we are going to work even harder!  But my comp E. Santeina is really cool!  I like him alot, but his Portuguese is pretty good so I'm not learning as much Spanish, but I'm still learning.  I can read/understand almost fluently ha ALMOST!  So one of my responsibilities is to do divisions and the trainamento in District meeting.  So my responsibilities keep growing, but I'm loving it.  My District is really fun and I try to make my District meetings fun like Pictionary or other games.  Any ideas would be great!  So I started to study the Book of Mormon using a cd w/readings and wow it's alot easier to understand.  I love it, it's helped my testimony alot.  But I hope all is well.  Tchau!
I love you all!  Elder Deakin
March 12, 2012
Familia!  1st thing really cool is that I got my package! w/solution! and log cabins!  p.s. in a city with 99% humidity things don't go hard they stay soft and mushy! So they are still really good but the powder sugar dissolved ha (mom note:  log cabins are his favorite candy)  But there was also lots of treats.  I hope nothing else, cause the box said it had been opened.  But I can't believe this is already my third week here in Acre!  Time passes so fast!  And this transfer only has 5 weeks because, I'm actually not sure ha.  The area is great!  Cooler, still really really REALLY HOT but what can ya do?  The Bishop here has 2 years so pretty new. He's good.  But my ala (ward, sorry) is super weak.  They are trying to build a chapel but need a frequency of 120 (it has been about 80 ha) so lots of work!  The men are lacking because the Stake pulled 4 for Stake callings.  But I have the chance to play the piano every Sunday (hymns)  I'm the only one that knows how and those people cant sing w/o it ha barely sing w/it ha super hard to play for them but I love it!  I don't know if I told you but I have a goal to read the Book of Mormon before the Temple Dedication.  So where you guys at?  So really I don't have anything new oh last week we got to crawl under a house and pull out a dead dog to bury it cuz it was starting to stink ha.  Dogs here are like cats, there are lots and lots!  So we found out a monkey lives behind our house.  Were gong to try to feed it (bananas) ha.  Also me and Santi started memorizing 1 scripture everyday!  So far its easy (3) haha  D&C 14:7 Alma 46:12 Ether(?) 12:12.  So I don't know whatelse you would like to know.  I've gained/lost weight everyday also lost the ability to speak in English ha. But seriously 1 American and 1 Argentenian in Brasil speaking Portuguese because it's the only way they have to talk to each other ha funny right?  But I think that's all for this week  Tchau!  Love you all!  Elder Deakin
February 14, 2012
Deakin Family!  Hey how goes it this week?  Everything is good here!  We had our baptism here last Saturday so that went good.  So Dad you need to tell me about your mission, because I want to see the difference from now and then.  (mom note: his dad went to Sao Paulo on his mission)  But today we are getting our new beds!  Finally!  After 2 1/2 months sleeping on the ground, well not the ground but the mattress on the floor.  So it will be nice.  But it sounds like the workout videos are working, fight through the burn! haha So this week now will be good.  We have Thursday a wedding/baptism, Friday we have Zone Conference then Sunday we receive transfers.  So this week will go pretty fast I think ha! I hope I get transfered but I don't think I will.  This area just isn't the best but I've enjoyed it here.  Best part is Elder Meow, our cat.  He's awesome!  He's even potty trained.  He goes right to the shower (so not perfect but best place possible)haha  Sounds like Cambria is enjoying golf!  That's good and FFA that's great to learn things you can apply.  But I hope all is well there.  I hope everyone is healthy and happy.  But have a good day!  Love you all!  Tchau

Griswalds!  So this letter I will only talk about 3 things.  The members, the area and my comp.  But lets start with the comp.  So his name is Andre Santi, he is from Argentina.  This part was easy to learn.  The hard was his mom is fighting cancer and last week he got to call home because she was having a surgery.  She's almost beat it, but the surgery got postponed because they didn't have an anathesiologist (the shot guy ha), but he is super cool.  His accent is pretty funny argen. doesn't use their mouth to talk so his pronuynciation is funny, but I'm learning spanish also now. haha.  It's really close but the area here is really cool.  Full of mud, trees and brick roads.  It really is way beautiful.  Full of trees but rains every day.  We walk with umbrellas even if we don't see 1 could because it will rain.  The man that lives below us is a story to share after the mission ha.  So they go and steal a cow and bring it back to cut it behind our house haha.  But he is really nice!  But now for the members they are great.  We get fed so much I'm gaining weight!  But they really are nice and care about us like in Itacoatiara, but not Manaus ha.  All in all I'm really loving this rea and really loving the work.  We struggle finding men and that is always our focus, but if we find a woman or anybody that asks to be baptised, we baptise ha!  But I hope all is well and the message today is Ether 2:23  Jesus asks what do you want that I do?  We have to propose solutions to Christ if we expect him to solve them.  I started the Book of Mormon again.  We hae to read it before July so see if you can beat me this time!  Tchau!  Elder Deakin
January 30, 2012
Family!  Hey!  How goes it?  Just got done talking to you guys (e mail) and w/dad the interenet seemed to be really slow and with mom the store seems to be doing well!  But this week was alright, kinda slow but good!  The area is really hard, starting to die right down to nothing but Bishops starting to wake the members up. but this week we have our first wedding!  Woot!  Finally after so much work we can have a little reward!  But me & my comp get along well.  But yeah, were out of money again we do too much towards the front and at the end we dont have much ha.  We never pass hungry, just not luxury ha.  But to respond to the weeks letter, Cambria congrats on the green hand.  I loved FFA.  I thought it was way fun and regret not taking more from them!  But really this week was nothing special.  1 more week in the field.  I got 10 months now and doing great, also got a letter from Holly w/fotos from Parker & Dereks missions.  Made me kinda miss a cold mission, but I'm here in the forest so can't complain ha.  But that's it for this week.  I hope all is great and spiritual message!  Alright so this message is from the History of the Church that I'm studying.  Elder Patten was the first apostle martyred in this dispensation.  He was known to Joseph as wanting to die as a myrter and in the Mormon War he received his wish and later at his funeral the prophet said "very emotional and great thoughfully said "to Elder Patten's body when a man with your faith asks something of the Lord he generally gives it."
I don't really know what you can apply with that but I really love the story.  I think it shows alot of Joseph and those apostles but I hope you all have a wonderful week!  Tchau!  Elder Deakin
p.s.  Do we want Mitt to win?  Is he good or what is he saying about changes
January 24, 2012
Family!  Well this week was just 1 more week, nothing exciting happened.  We did have one young man show up in Church so that was cool.  He is a musician for another church but he's interested in learning, so it was cool to have him there.  This area is really hard!  The only thing that can really make it better is if the members step up, otherwise nothing more will happen so lets see! (mom note:  do our Elders feel this way about us in Utah?) We got cussed by our Bishop's wife for calling a lady that wasn't the Relief Society President to help with our weddings.  We have to call those people we know will help!  But this lady called the Bishop's wife to ask to help and the Bishop's wife said I cant your not the person that can ask it has to be the Pres.!  AHHH!  Stop being Dumb!  When SOMEONE Asks for Help...HELP!! (mom note:  we could probably all learn from this experience)  Well, that all my frustrating problems for the week ha, so until next week enjoy these mini reais!  Tchau love you all!  Elder Deakin
January 16, 2012
Family!  Sorry it took so long to write (ya mom apologizes for taking so long to blog again!), but I'll be better again, but these last two weeks were good.  The work is unending w/very small signs of progress.   Except for our dates we have marked were not having any more success.  Knock knock knock but nothing...but were still going strong!  So exciting experiences my rain jacket got stolen Sunday in church!  So that was awesome!  I hope it turns up this Sunday but my hopes are slim!  Things with my comp are going really good.  We have worked out all the bumps and now its just work!  So last Sunday I had the opportunity-challenge to translate for a german millionaire from a mix of english/spanish to portugues.  He is trying to get the member to work with him.  It was super confusing because I didn't know anything that was going on.  I told them I don't want anything to do, I will just translate but it was a neat experience.  But really there hasn't been anything new that happened, nothing exciting just alot of no's.  But oh, I started a new study its using "the history of the church in the fullest of times".  This manual is really cool!  It's full of crazy things that happened in the first of the church!  Like one is the very first time Brigham Young met Pres. Joseph Smith.  Young gave the prayer in the meeting and Young started to talk in another language.  Joseph prophesied that Brigham will be Prophet!  Crazy!  But nothing more for this week.  Take Care.  I Love You!  Tchau!  Elder Deakin
