Familia!
Oi! tudo bem? Como fui sua semana? Come e a familia? Como e a casa de Chandlie & Tyrell? How is Cambria? Is it just me or is the time going by really slow this week? My companion is awesome. I really like him. But what's new at home? How's grandpa's house? How's Brandyn liking marriage? How is everything? My branch here is awesome. The food is good. I have pasta noodles more or equal to rice haha crazy huh? But beans and meat at every meal. It's good. I'm keeping my weight. I have a cool tan line ja (already) So for my things this week I saw 2 parrots, held one. It was lime green w/blue, way pretty. Also you will never guess who the first person in Manaus I saw was Elder Thompson. He's doing good. I haven't seen Elder Tenney yet though. So my luggage broke bad. The side walls all collapsed so I don't know what to do for the warrenty but maybe call them and find out. Also I found this guy here that carves oars. It's way cool. I don't know if you want something special I am having him make me one with moroni and the plates. Maybe a small one of Logan Temple too, we'll see. Only spiders I've seen are wolf, tiny ones and daddy long legs the size of golf balls. We got invited to go aligator hunting. I think he was serious. I hope at least haha. The members are so great. You need to make cookies for the Elders haha. So we get 200 reis a month. Thats $100, were living right! Food is so cheap, bread especially. So we have 2 baptisms and one wedding next month. I want one quicker, but I don't know. We contact alot of people but I think more is better. We have high numbers Just I want more. I don't want to be average, I want extreme! I want to be working all day long in this heat! This week we get to participate in helping hands so that's cool. All of Brazil is doing it on the 30 of this month. Oh also this week we got the triple three, 1 bible basher 1 lady feeding her baby and 2 well 2 drunks, people they were funny. Also we just got out of a huge church broadcast for America. I was the only one that liked it. Everyone was like why is this only about America. I liked it though. It was really helpful! So I hope your happy and keep writing! We had ward parties this week or festival da ram. It was different. They don't have modesty rules down here and they have this weird dance but it's normal for them so I guess it's not a problem haha. I'm so sick of these stupid bugs. Right now I have at least 4 on me. They never leave you alone. So one of our areas is about 7 miles away it is called Birro de Paz. The people there are very poor. Holes for toilets. It's crazy. Very nice people though. I love all the people here. They are so nice. I've only met one not nice lady and she just didn't want to talk. We contacted 51 people this week. Set 2 baptisms and 1 wedding I think successful! Well I think thats all for now! I love you all so much. Write me!! Tchau! eu je amo! Elder Deakin
So its P-Day today and raining pretty good. I was kept up most the night by lots of random things. A bird hiding from the lightening, a spider in my bed, our roommate trying to kill something. So needless to say not a good night but still up @ 6:30 because thats one rule I will never break! They say there are rules that matter and rules that don't but to me they are all rules and I want to keep them all. They say that it's just because I'm new in the mission field.
How is Chandlies house? I need more photos of everything. We are gong running today. Maybe I will take lots of photos then e mail them to you all next which will be a week before your reading this haha. I hate the mail system. I had to start using bug spray. I get bit all over my face, looks like it has tons of zits., but they are from bugs. But, I hope to hear fron you all soon. I love you all so much!! Tchau

Oi! Como vi? Como foi isso semana! Way slow kinda it felt way long. So I'm in Manaus. Well kinda, I'm in the mission but in a small town called Itocoatiara. I love it. It's a small town and everyone is way nice. There is two branches. Were the third set of missionaries here. It's been closed for over 9 months. We had a baptism the first day we got here. It was way cool, but not mine so it wasn't as speacial but still cool. My comp is way cool. He's way nice, funny. I like him alot. So my town is 4 hours by fast car west of Manaus. Its literally the jungle city ha. Trees everywhere, the houses are like barns. There are some nice but alot are like the one in early park. We went contacting yesterday and found a lot of new possible investigators. We have 3 right now so thats cool. Thanks for the oreos and snickers. Ants got into the oreos but I froze them so were good. My house is nice/relatively. Our shower is a pipe out of the wall w/cold water. I love it. But one bad thing about out here is receive no mail. It all goes to the mission house and they don't forward it out so e-mail.!!! I tried to get e-mail permission from Pres. for other people but he said no. So tell me everything about everyone. I'm pretty homesick but I think that will fade after time I hope. I miss you all alot! President Klein is his name. He's from south. His wife is way nice! The language is coming. I understand really well but ony if they talk clear and slow! haha I have these weird red bumps all over my body. I'm going to wait to see if I get more then call Presiden'ts wife. Haven't seen anything crazy cool yet. Alot of lizards. Oh on my flight here, which was way scary to fly alone in a country, but I found some ladies from Utah so that was cool. But on my flight I saw 3 fires, big ones. It was crazy. Alright so I made a list of things I want to tell you about. There was this english school that said "we go school" it was funny. The police station experience. We left for there at 8 a.m. It took us till 3 to leave because they all went to lunch! My flight was at 5:30 I tried to call but my card doesn't work. You need to call and activate it. So I will just send it home in this letter. The food is good. Alot of chicken, meat & beans & rice. So it's good. My area reminds me alot of home, tractors and things. Alot of motorcycles. It smells like the fair & Big O Tires. But way hot and humid. I take two showers a day and as soon as I get out I sweat again so way hot! The people here drive motorcycles but only 150's but they put up to 5 people on one. Mom, dad and kids even babies. Crazy!!! The ladies here don't shave legs. It's not as weird as you would think though haha (still weird) I want a copy of The Standard of Truth. Something pretty & laminated cuz water is alot here! My comp speaks pretty good english. Kinda knows few words so I'm forced to always speak portuguese. It's nice, kinda. There is an Elder in our house that is from Arizona so we speak english a little. It helps relax me. Oh I need more ties, but none from any dances or way nice haha. Maybe go to the D I and get soome cool old ones. I need a calendar or at least an e mail with everyones birthday. I can't remember any ha so I need the dates. Oh Lions Club exists in Sao Paulo. Crazy huh! How is Northern Furniture? What about the building? What's happening? My area is huge. So many houses & doesn't end ony goes to forest. I think were going paint balling today, also we have a guitar, so thats way fun! I love playing it, also relaxes me. Also everyone here has at least two 15" subs on their cars or trucks. I even saw a scooter blasting a sub. It's hilarious. I Love You all Tchau! Elder Deakin

Dear Family: All is going well here in the MTC. Today might be my last Sunday in the MTC as in I leave this week!! Crazy. It was also Fast Sunday and I really have grown to love the power of a fast. The Lord can really strengthen you when you are at your weakest point. I'm kinda homesick but I feel like that's mainly related to nervous..Oh! So this Thursday we had the opportunity to go out and proselyt. We had the best experience. So for the first forty minutes we walked around asked a lot of people if they wanted to hear our message. Everyone said either A. noio tempo Eu tenho um reunioo. B. eu tenho esto livro ( but they hadn't read it) or C. already a member. But we ran into one guy and all I can say is that man was so ready to accept the gospel in his life. He knew english! It was a major blessing. He was thinking about life alot and that he hadn't heard alot about God lately. We taught him like all of the first lesson. It was so cool. Just what I needed! It was crazy spiritual. The other two we gave away were door knocking. We knocked on this man's door and I started talking. Asked him if he wanted a book and he said if you want to give me it I will take it. Then I explained what it was and then again asked him if he wanted it and he said yeah. It was awesome. I really feel that they might actually read it. But other than that experience nothing else exciting. My portuguese is pretty good, but I'm going to start the Book of Mormon challenge given by Pres. Hinckley to read it in a language and you will become fluent quicker. One Elder has 100 pages left and he's pretty good at speaking, but he also had a semester 8 credit class on it so.. But that's about all I have to say for today. Thanks for all the letters. I Love You all! Tchaou Elder Deakin P.S. We saw this moth bigger than my hand in the hall last night. It was cool.

Family!! How is everything going? Everything is great here. I'm sitting in a meeting thats going pretty slow so I decided I would write ya. How's home? Are you guys getting all of my projects done that I started? haha That's cool the fishfry went good and everyone sounds really busy still! I don't know how long this mail system is taking but I have only received 1 letter ha thanks alot! So time is going fast. I have a test Monday to see if I can leave Tuesday or early at all. But whatever works. It's alright here. The food is ok. I've eaten so many rolls. I'm keeping the same weight. We have Brazillian roommates and they are crazy. They are so loud and party all night. My companion and I still get along really well! He;s a good kid. We have had alot of spiritual moments like last week was fast Sunday and we had a District fast for our teachers girlfriend to have an interest in the Church and want to be baptized and on Monday he told us that Sunday night she took a lesson and accepted to be baptized. It was crazy. It was exactly the testimony builder I needed. So today was Valentines Day. That's weird. Also it's getting pretty cold here, only 60 but its a weird cold. It's so strange! For gym time everyone knows me from basketball cuz I'm the 3rd tallest here. Also I have been mistaken for a Brasilian, like alot. It's hilarious. They will ask me voce americano o brasilero? And I say Americano. It's funny. As soon as my language comes I will totally say Brasillian haha. It's fun to hear that you are still including Shay in everything. Holly's written me twice now ha. I think its way fun. Well let me know if you receive this letter so I know how long it takes. But vte mais eu te amo ate logo paz fora e muito amo! Tchou! Elder Deakin

Como vi vide em Unite Estates? Brasil e muito bem mas. Sometimes I forget that I am even in Brasil. So anything exciting going on? How was the fish fry? I like P-days here cuz we get to take an hour trip to the Temple then walk around Sao Paulo. I don't know how much longer I will be here. There will be a group leaving next week and another in 5 weeks. Hopefully, I catch either of those or somewhere in between. I'm speaking really well, but I struggle understanding the locals. We have two Brasilians in our room. Their sleeping habits aren't the best but their help with the language is awesome. I've made alot of friends here. There is only about 5 kids from Utah, but many from Washington, California and others. We don't stay nearly as busy as we did in Provo, but I am pushing myself as hard as I can so that I can get out in the field. We don't really do much so I don't have too much to say. But I hope that all is going well and everyone is having a wonderful week. Take Care, tell everyone I Love them!
